Although the process for forming a PLC with us is just as simple as forming a private limited company (Ltd) there are some important legal rules. The main ones are:

• the company is not allowed to trade until it has a "Section 117 Certificate"
• to get this you will need to apply to Companies House and prove that the company has issued share capital of £50,000, at least a quarter paid up. So in practice this means that you have to put £12,500 into the company
• you need a qualified company secretary
